Fundraiser to Celebrate Refugee Innovators
June 20 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
Did you know that most funding for direct care initiatives for refugees are led by non-refugees including American NGO leaders and philanthropic groups, while refugee-led initiatives within the refugee communities are often hidden and not funded? We believe refugee-led initiatives are more sustainable than efforts from outside the community. For this reason, we are creating a mechanism–The Refugee Innovation Fund–to directly provide financial assistance to cutting edge, refugee-led initiatives. Boston is stronger when we build on the strengths of our refugee community.
Universal Human Rights International in partnership with Emmanuel Gospel Center is pleased to launch the Refugee Innovation Fund on World Refugee Day, June 20th from 6-8pm. This will be a unique opportunity to celebrate refugee innovators and for Bostonians to discover the successes of refugee communities and leverage our resources in strengthening grassroots, refugee-led efforts.
Enjoy cuisine from Iraq and Liberia while you hear from a panel of refugee community leaders and participate in small group presentations from refugee innovators in the Greater Boston Area. Discover how Afghans, Congolese, and Iraqis are collaborating to solve problems locally and globally.
We hope you’ll join us in supporting healthy, refugee-inclusive communities and in exploring collaboration from an educational, healthcare, political and economic lens.
If you are not able to join us on June 20, 2019, please make a donation to the Refugee Innovation Fund by clicking “register” or by going to www.egc.org/give and in the memo line, enter “Refugee Innovation Fund.” All proceeds of this event go directly to refugee innovators in the Boston area.
