KNITTED KNOCKERS: Breast prosthetics are usually expensive, heavy, and uncomfortable forms for women who have undergone mastectomies or other breast procedures. Knitted Knockers are free, special handmade alternatives to breast prosthetics. Knitted Knockers are soft, comfortable, beautiful and take the shape and feel of a real breast. They are created and donated by volunteer knitters. There is a need for volunteer knitters in this area to create and donate Knitted Knockers for those requesting them. WOMEN’S MINISTRY: Promise Land Church in West Haven sponsors Connecticut Women of Faith and Courage featuring Rev. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Do you enjoy helping animals with special needs? The Hope Alliance for Animals, Inc. is a Christian-based sanctuary for special needs cats in Killingworth, CT. CHILDBIRTH CLASSES: Free childbirth classes for pregnant teens and young adults up to age 21 are offered in a free eight-week program at Milford Hospital. Info and reservations: 203-876-4285.

MIDDLE SCHOOL MENTORING: The “Across Ages Mentoring Program” is looking for caring adults ages 45 and older to share two hours a week with a middle school child in activities such as fishing, building something, playing catch, or other kid-friendly activity. DONATE YOUR VEHICLE FOR A TAX DEDUCTION: Residents in Fairfield County can get a tax deduction by donating their old car to the Christian Counseling Center of Norwalk. Call the center and have the vehicle towed away. Donors will be given a donation receipt to use in reporting the tax deductible gift. Donors are entitled to deduct up to $500 in their income tax returns. If the car is worth more than $500, it will be sold, and a receipt stating the gross amount will be mailed to the donor within 30 days after sale.
